Deerskin
So this book has a lot going on!! there were times in the begining after the rape that time was confusing to me but other than that I really enjoy the story. There is a part that is bothering me...where is the baby she gave birth to? Did I miss something? One moment Lissar is bleeding and screaming and thinking she is going to die and to make matters worse she runs outside in the middle of winter. What the hell! Anyway why and when did she wake up? Questions, yes, I have many because I hated this part of the book. The time orientation was confusing and seriously who wakes up from that ordeal just fine except having a messy cabin. I understand that it is a fairy tale and she may have had a visit from her fairy god mother but this part of the book, to me, really fumbles. The other thing I thought was maybe she was just getting her period but then again she needs to get a grip getting your period should not cause that type of turmoil. Other than that I am really enjoying Deerskin

LOL- it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who went crazy thinking about that! Actually my blog is all about that damn baby’s disappearance. Seriously, what a tease the author is. 90+ pages and not one word about the baby. But I wouldn’t say we never found out what happened to it. It is strongly hinted just before chapter 18 ends on page 192: “A bad fever it was, it has killed…” and then it goes on to say that whole ‘it killed something? What?’ since Lissar’s given herself amnesia. But the hint is there. The baby is dead.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking though….the Lady. Who is she? It just occurred to me to ask, lol. Is she some reflection of the “inner Lissar” or maybe even Ash in human form? After all, when Lissar attempts to take care of them both at the hut it’s mentioned that Ash has a mysterious fondness for cooked meat. Or maybe that’s just the way Ash was brought up in the castle. There’s lots of cooked meat there. Eh, I think the Lady is actually Ash in human form is more fun to think about. At least this ‘mystery’ won’t drive me nuts like that baby did. Ugh. Kids. XD
I am also enjoying the book. I was very confused about the part with the stomach. Was she pregnant, giving birth, or just have her period. I felt that after they discussed that part, it just went away, never being talked about again. I feel like I missed somthing as well! It just doesn't make sense to me, how did she have a baby, her father was her only partner(sick!) and she wasn't gone that long I dont think?! Well hopefully we find out soon. Yeah who is this lady?? I am really looking forward to learning about what happens to Lissar next... I wonder how she will be reminded of who she is. This could get very interesting!
